Chiseled Edge — Egyptian Marble & Granite

A chiseled edge makes cut stone look quarried. Instead of machining the edge smooth, our craftsmen work it by hand, chipping a controlled, irregular face that catches light and shadow like rock fresh from the mountain — while the top surface stays precisely flat and finished. It is the edge that gives a modern slab an old soul.

What a Chiseled Edge Is

The edge is struck by hand, removing small flakes along the arris to leave a rough, natural-looking face with the raw colour of the stone’s interior. The depth and rhythm of the chipping are controlled , so pieces still install to consistent dimensions — rustic to the eye, predictable to the fitter. Each piece is unique; that is the product, not a tolerance problem.

Where It's Used

Anywhere stone should look elemental: rustic and farmhouse kitchen countertops and islands, bathroom vanities in natural-style interiors, stair treads, window sills, wall caps and pool copings in landscape work. It pairs beautifully with our chiseled surface finish and split face cladding— one visual language across wall and worktop. Cut per piece on marble, granite, limestone and sandstone , and orderable on our countertops alongside machined profiles in the same shipment.

Chiseled or Broken Edge?

The two rustic edges differ in control. The chiseled edge is worked deliberately — the craftsman decides the depth and rhythm, so the roughness is consistent along a run of pieces. The broken edge is snapped, letting the stone fracture naturally — wilder, more random, best where pieces don’t need to match closely. For polished-world alternatives, see the full profile range in our edge finishes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a chiseled edge suitable for kitchen countertops?

Yes — the chipped face is surprisingly durable (there is no crisp corner left to chip further), and the top surface stays flat and sealed like any countertop. It suits rustic and farmhouse kitchens especially.

What is the difference between chiseled and broken edges?

Control. Chiseled is hand-worked to a consistent, deliberate roughness; broken is naturally snapped and more random. Chiseled suits fitted work like counters and treads; broken suits landscape and garden pieces.

Is every chiseled edge unique?

Yes — each piece is worked by hand, so no two edges repeat exactly. We agree the chipping depth and character on an approved sample before production.
